2.The petitioner claims to be the owner of a jewelry shop in Sathyamangalam under the name and style of 'Vasivi Thanga Maaligai' sent an application for gun licence to the District Magistrate/ District Collector, Erode District for his self protection considering the nature of business and it was rejected on 17.11.2015 in P.Dis.21702 of 2015 and challenging the legality of the same, filed an appeal before the respondent and it was numbered as RA5(2)/51025/15. The grievance expressed by the petitioner is that, despite lapse of nearly one year, the appeal has not been disposed of and hence, came forward to file this writ petition.

3.Heard the submissions of Mr.D.R.Arun Kumar, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.R.Govindasamy, learned Special Government Pleader, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondent.

4.This Court taking into consideration the limited scope of the prayer sought for by the petitioner, directs the respondent to consider and pass orders in the appeal, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision taken, to the petitioner. 5.The writ petition is disposed of accordingly.
