O R D E R

This contempt petition has been filed to punish the respondent for wilful disobedience of the order dated 04.08.2000 passed by this Court in W.P.No. 13209 of 2000, thereby directed the respondent to consider the petitioner's application dated 08.06.1995 within the period of twelve weeks 1/3

from the date of receipt of a copy of the order. This Contempt Petition has been filed after a period of nearly 20 years.

2. The learned Special Government Pleader (Pondicherry) would submit that the petitioner sought for information under the Right to Information Act and he was replied by the respondent vide a letter dated 26.07.2016 that the application submitted by the petitioner could not be traced out. Therefore, the petitioner filed Writ Petition before this Court in W.P.No.10988 of 2017 to implement the order passed by this Court dated 04.08.2000. The said writ petition was dismissed by this Court by an order dated 01.07.2021 for non-prosecution. Therefore, the Contempt Petition is barred by limitation.

3. In view of the above, the Contempt Petition stands dismissed. However, the petitioner is at liberty to take steps to restore the earlier writ petition filed by him.
