The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking direction to the respondents to promote him as SSI with effect from 01.03.2011 with all consequential service benefits. 2.The case of the petitioner is that he joined the Police Department as Grade II Police Constable during the year 1986 and was promoted to the post of Grade I Police Constable during the year 2002 and was further promoted to the post of Head Constable on 07.08.2007. The grievance of the petitioner is that since he suffered minor punishments, he was not given periodical

promotions, whereas, one Selvaraj, similarly situated person was given periodical promotions. In this regard, the petitioner made representation to the respondents and since there was no response, has come forward to file this writ petition. 3.Today, when the matter was taken up for consideration, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner would be satisfied if the representation of the petitioner dated 20.04.2014 is directed to be disposed of by the respondents in the light of the promotion granted to similarly situated person viz., Selvaraj, for which, the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents has no serious objection.

4.In view of the above, this Court directs the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 20.04.2014, if not already considered and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5.With the above direction, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
