The petitioner, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the offence punishable under Section 420 of IPC in Crime No.Not known of 2023 on the file of the respondent police, seeks anticipatory bail.

2. The petitioner herein, on receiving summon from the Inspector of Police, Korattur Police Station issued under Section 160 of Cr.P.C., is before this Court seeking anticipatory bail apprehending arrest.

3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) for the respondent states that the complaint has been received from one Selvarajan alleging that the petitioner has cheated him. Though a serious complaint has been made against the petitioner, police on prima-facie satisfaction that it is a money dispute and it needs to be enquired preliminarily to rule out whether any criminality is made out, hence registered CSR No.948 of 2023 and summoned the petitioner herein. mpl cooperated for the enquiry and the Investigating Officer was also not present there due to on duty on that day. Hence, the enquiry could not be conducted. If the petitioner appears before the Investigating Officer on summons and cooperate with the investigation, unless and until any criminality is made out, the police will not take any coercive measures.
