By this writ petition, the petitioner seeks the consideration and disposal of representation dated 31.01.2024. The petitioner is the owner of a property bearing new No.15, Old No.16, Tippu Sahib Street, Triplicane, Chennai. It is stated that the petitioner acquired such property by a sale deed dated 05.08.1999, which was registered as Document No.811/1999. After purchasing the property, it is stated that the petitioner demolished the then existing building and put up a new construction. Once such construction was completed, the petitioner states that the property was assessed and the half yearly property tax was fixed at Rs.7,308/- with effect from the first half of the year 2002-03. The petitioner asserts that property tax dues were paid from that point onwards until date. Since the Greater Chennai Corporation adjusted such payments towards alleged past dues, after submitting a representation dated 31.01.2024, the present writ petition was filed.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioner refers to the receipts at pages 12 to 18 of the typed set and contends that these receipts evidence 2/4

payment of property tax for the earlier periods by the petitioner's vendor. He further submits that the petitioner's representation for re-computation of property tax did not elicit a response.

3. Mr.S.Gopinathan, learned standing counsel (Corporation), accepts notice for the respondents. He submits that the petitioner's representation would be considered and disposed of in accordance with law.

4. In view of the above submissions, W.P.No.18548 of 2024 is disposed of by directing the third respondent to consider and dispose of the representation dated 31.01.2024 within two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order after providing a reasonable opportunity, including a personal hearing , to the petitioner.
