Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuing a writ of mandamus to direct the District Revenue Officer, Kancheepuram District, the 2nd respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 17.01.2014 for grant of patta for the lands in S.No.11/1, Hasthinapuram Village, Tambaram Taluk to an extent of 1.5 acres and dispose of the same on merits within a time frame.

The petitioner has filed the above Writ Petition to issue a Writ of mandamus directing the District Revenue Officer, Kancheepuram District, the 2nd respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 17.01.2014 for grant of patta for the lands in S.No.11/1, Hasthinapuram Village, Tambaram Taluk to an extent of 1.5 acres and dispose of the same on merits within a time frame.
2.Mr.A.V.Arun, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the land in question is an Anadheenam land as per the letter of the 5th respondent dated 17.03.2006 and therefore, the 2nd respondent is the authority to consider the claim made by the petitioner. Further, the learned counsel submitted that though the petitioner has given the representation as early as on 17.01.2014, the 2nd respondent has not passed any order so far.
3.Mrs.K.Bhuvaneswari, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submitted that the 2nd respondent may be directed to consider the petitioner's representation in accordance with law within a time frame.
4.Having regard to the submissions made by the learned counsel on either side, taking into consideration the limited prayer sought for by the learned counsel for the petitioner, without expressing any opinion with regard to the merits of the case, I direct the 2nd respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 17.01.2014 and pass orders, on merits and in accordance with law, after giving an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and other interested parties, within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5.With these observations, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
