ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to conduct a detailed enquiry/investigation into the allegations of corruption, misuse of public funds and financial irregularities committed in Peranamallur Town Panchayat during the relevant period and consequently, to take appropriate criminal and departmental action against the persons responsible.
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.
3. It is the case of the petitioner that she is an elected Ward Member of Peranamallur Town Panchayat. She alleged that there was several irregularities such as corruption, financial mismanagement and abuse of power were going on in the said Panchayat under the leadership of the panchayat president along with her husband and the elected members are prevented when raising objections against the said activities. In this regard, she made a representation on 24.03.2026, however, there was inaction on the part of the respondents. Hence, the present Writ Petition.
4. Considering the facts and circumstance of the case, this Court directs the respondent concerned to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 24.03.2026 and dispose of the same in accordance with law, after providing an opportunity of hearing to the necessary parties, if any, within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
