ORDER

The writ petition has been filed to issue a writ of mandamus to the respondent to pay 6% interest for the belated settlement of retirement benefits to the 44 members of the petitioner's association by considering their individual representations dated 02.05.2026.

2. The petitioner association represents 44 retired employees of the respondent corporation, who retired during the years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022 to 2025. Though their retirement benefits were eventually settled, there was a considerable delay in payment and no interest was paid for the delayed period. The members submitted individual representations dated 02.05.2026 seeking payment of 6% interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits. As the representations were not considered, the present writ petition has been filed. 3.

The learned Standing Counsel for the respondents would fairly submit that the respondents are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount. 4.

Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of eligible and admissible terminal benefits for the period of delay, from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits, to the members of the petitioner association, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
