O R D E R

This petition has been filed to direct the 2nd respondent to grant permission and Police protection to the petitioner for conducting the cultural programme (Adal Padal) at Arulmigu Abathu Katha Vinayagar, Muthumariyamman, Kaliyamman, Kanni Thevathai Temple in Thirukonam Village, Kamarajapuram, Ariyalur Taluk & District on 03.06.2018, by acting on his representation dated 23.05.2018.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, appearing for the respondents.

3. The grievance of the petitioner is that despite his https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

representation dated 23.05.2018, respondent police have not granted any permission to conduct the cultural programme.

4. I am of the view that this Court cannot give a direction to the police as prayed for by the petitioner. It is for the jurisdictional police and officers to assess the situation and grant permission, taking into consideration the law and order problem that may arise due to the conduct of so called cultural programme. Hence, instead of directing the 2nd respondent to grant permission, this Court directs the respondents to pass orders within two weeks on the representation dated 23.05.2018, given by the petitioner, on merits and in accordance with law.

5. With the above direction, the Criminal Original Petition is closed.
