Mr.R.Balaji, Standing Counsel COMMON ORDER The writ petitions are filed for the below relief: "directing the respondents to consider the petitioners representation dated 30.03.2026 that to pay interest @ 10% for the belated payments of Leave Salary, Provident Fund, Gratuity and Commutation and dispose of the same within the stipulated period".

2. The brief facts which has culminated in the filing of these writ petitions are set out below:

2.1. It is the case of the petitioners that they were retired employees of the respondent Corporation who worked as "Special Grade Senior Tradesman and Special Grade Senior Driver" respectively. The respondents settled the petitioners terminal benefits belatedly. Therefore, the respondents are legally bound to pay interest to the petitioners. Therefore, the petitioners made a representation dated 30.03.2026 to the respondents to pay the interest at the rate of 10% p.a., for the belated payment of the petitioners terminal benefits such as Leave Salary, Provident Fund, Gratuity and Commutation. Since there is no response, the petitioners are before this Court.

3. Heard the learned Counsel on either side and perused the materials available on records.

4. Admittedly, the Leave Salary, Provident Fund, Gratuity and Commutation has been paid belatedly for no fault of the petitioners. Therefore, the petitioners are entitled to interest on the same. Therefore, the Writ petitions are disposed of with a direction to the respondents to disburse 6% interest for belated payment of Leave Salary, Provident Fund, Gratuity and Commutation within a period of one (1) month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are ordered. No costs. 15.06.2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order rap
