The writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to include the name of the petitioner in the "C" list fit for promotion as Sub-Inspector of Police for the year 2004-2005 and further promote him to the post of Sub Inspector of Police with effect from 15.03.2005 on par with his juniors with all consequential benefits.

2. Today, when the matter was taken up for consideration, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that subsequent to the filing of this writ petition, the petitioner retired from service on reaching the age of superannuation and hence, he may be given liberty to approach the authority concerned afresh for appropriate relief.
3.Granting such liberty to the petitioner, the writ petition stands closed. No costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is also closed.
