ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed for a direction directing the first respondent to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 29.01.2024 seeking promotion to the post of Sub-Inspector of Police.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.

3. A perusal of the affidavit filed in support of this writ petition clearly shows that the petitioner clearly stated that the representation dated 29.01.2024 was considered and by reply dated 30.01.2024, the first respondent categorically stated that in G.O.Ms.No.17, Youth Welfare and Sports Development (S1) Department, dated 21.05.2020, the Government had ordered to constitute the selection committee for 3% reservation in selection for appointment of meritorious sports persons in the recruitment for identified posts in Government department. Accordingly, the Sport Development Authority of Tamil Nadu called for applications from the meritorious and the

eligible sports persons for consideration by the selection committee. Therefore, the petitioner was informed that meritorious sports persons appointed as category II and III Police Constables through direct recruitment by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu based on the recommendation of the selection committee.

4. Insofar as the petitioner is concerned, he was not appointed under any sports quota. Therefore, the petitioner submitted a representation and the respondent had already properly replied on 30.01.2024. Therefore, the relief sought for in this writ petition cannot be considered. Thus, the writ petition lacks merits and is liable to be dismissed.

5. Accordingly, this writ petition stands dismissed. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. No costs. 15.07.2024 Internet: Yes Index : Yes/No Speaking/Non Speaking order Lpp
