ORDER

The writ petition has been filed to issue a writ of mandamus to the respondents to pay the petitioners, the interest at the rate of 8% for the belated payment of Provident Fund, Gratuity, Surrender Leave Amount and Commuted Pension and other retirement benefits, within a time frame fixed by this Court.

2.The case of the petitioners is that they had joined the services of the respondent-Corporation and had retired from service on 30.09.2024, 31.05.2025 and 30.06.2025, and 31.07.2025 on attaining the age of superannuation. However, the terminal benefits have been settled to the petitioners belatedly on 11.03.2026 and no interest has been paid for the delayed period. Therefore, the petitioners had submitted their representations to the respondents on 01.04.2026, to pay the interest for the delayed period. Since the same were not considered, the present writ petition has been filed. 3.

The learned Standing Counsel for the respondents would fairly 2/4

submit that the respondents are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount. 4.

Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of admissible terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits to the petitioners, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
