ORDER

The petitioners are all serving as Assistants and they have also completed their probation in the month of August, 2011. They also claim to have passed the departmental tests as prescribed in the service conditions. Moreover, they have also undergone training in the Tamil Nadu Land and Survey Training Institute at Orathanadu even before the crucial date i.e., on 15.3.2012. Based on the same, they were promoted as Assistants by the District Revenue Officer, Vellore in his proceeding dated 11.4.2012. of the service qualification, namely, one year training as Junior Assistants to become eligible for Assistants, by order dated 30.6.2012. Thereafter, pursuant to the orders passed by the appellate authority, they were placed in the seniority list of Assistants for the year 2012.

Again they made a representation to send them for Revenue Inspector training to become eligible for promotion to the post of Deputy Tahsildar. The said request was rejected by the second respondent by order dated 23.8.2017. Aggrieved by the same, the petitioners have preferred appeals on 11.10.2017 and the same are pending on the file of the Additional Chief Secretary/Commissioner of Revenue Administration, Chennai, the first respondent herein. Since their promotions are severely affected, they have sought for early disposal of the pending appeals on merit.

2. The learned Government Advocate for the respondents sought for sufficient time to consider the pending appeals of the petitioners.

3. Since the appeals filed by the petitioners are pending for consideration, the first respondent is hereby directed to consider the same on merit and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, preferably within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
