O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for the issue of a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents not to install any transformer in the 12 feet wide V.P.Arunachalam Street, West K.K.Nagar, Chennai 600 078.

2. Heard Mr.P.Vinod Kumar, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.L.Jai Venkatesh, learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents.

3. According to the petitioner, if the transformer is erected by the respondents, it will virtually prevent any heavy vehicle from getting into the road and it is a dead-end road. The photographs that have been produced before this Court does not really reflect the apprehension raised by the petitioner. This Court, exercising its jurisdiction under Article 226 of the Constitution of India cannot be monitoring the places where the transformers are being erected and these are purely administrative decisions taken by the Electricity Board. It will be too difficult for this Court to issue directions to the respondents and hence this Court is not inclined to entertain this writ petition. However, it is made clear that the respondents shall take all safety measures to ensure that it does not cause any danger to the nearby residents and that the free flow of the vehicles is not in any way interrupted.

4. This writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
