O R D E R

The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 25.03.2019 for the offences punishable under Sections 147, 148, 341, 302 r/w 120(b) IPC in Crime No.129 of 2013 on the file of the respondent police, seeks bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner is alleged to have committed the act of murder along with other 3 accused.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is innocent and he did not commit any offence as alleged by the prosecution and he has been falsely implicated in this case. Moreover, the petitioner was detained under Goondas Act and, hence, NBW was issued against him. He further submits that the co-accused have been released on bail and, therefore, the petitioner also may be granted bail.

4. The learned Government advocate appearing for the respondent submits that totally 18 cases were registered against the petitioner, out of which, 11 cases have been registered on the file of Salem City Veeranam Police Station; 2 cases have been registered on the

file of Salem City, Kondalampatty Police Station and 2 cases have been registered on the file of the Mettur Police Station; 2 cases have been registered in Kallakurichi Police Station and one case was registered in Hasthampatty Police Station. Moreover, the case is in trial stage. Hence he vehemently opposed grant bail to the petitioner.

5. Pursuant to the said submission, learned counsel for the petitioner prays that this Court may issue direction to concerned Magistrate to expedite the trial.

6. Considering the complicity of the petitioner in a number of cases, as detailed above, in the interest of justice, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. However, liberty is granted to the petitioner to file appropriate petition for expediting the trial in a manner known to law.
