ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for the issue of writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the application/representation made by the petitioner, wherein the petitioner seeks issuance of birth certificate in the name of her daughter (M.Lysika).

2. Heard Mr.Antony R.Julian, the learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.G.Velu, the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondents.

3. The case of the petitioner is that she gave birth to a girl child on 31.12.2006, without any assistance from the medical practitioner and it was a normal delivery that took place at her home. Thereafter, the petitioner relocated Page No.2 of 5

to a different place and did not apply for a birth certificate at that time. However, the name of her daughter M.Lysika has been incorporated in all other documents, including the Aadhaar Card.

4. The petitioner submitted an application seeking for issuance of a birth certificate for her daughter. Since the same was not acted upon, she made several representations, and even though some acknowledgements and communications were sent, till date the birth certificate has not been issued to the petitioner's daughter.

5. It is under these circumstances, the petitioner has chosen to knock the doors of this Court seeking for an appropriate direction. Considering the facts, circumstances and materials placed before this Court, there shall a direction to the 3 rd respondent to act upon the application submitted by the petitioner and issue the birth certificate on verifying all relevant documents within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6. This Writ Petition is disposed of in the above terms.
