The petitioner, who apprehend arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the alleged offences punishable under Section 420 IPC in Crime No. 276 of 2022, seeks anticipatory bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that the defacto complainant ran a restaurant in the name and style of Mokka cafe and also ran a Hooka Bar in the very same restaurant. It is alleged that the petitioner approached the defacto complainant as an IPS Officer and collected a sum of Rs.6,00,000/- from him. Hence, the complaint.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner has not committed any offence as alleged by the prosecution and he has been falsely implicated in this case. He would further submit that the petitioner is ready and willing to return the amount collected from the defacto complainant. Hence, he prays to anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

4. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor would submit that the petitioner is alleged to have introduced himself as an IPS Officer and G.K.ILANTHIRAIYAN, J.

Anu collected a sum of Rs.6,00,000/- from the defacto complainant and cheated him. Hence, he vehemently opposed to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

Though the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that he is ready and willing to return the amount, considering the way in which the offence committed by the petitioner, this Court finds that the custodial interrogation of the petitioner is very much required. Hence, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioners.
