The matter was posted under the caption "for filing report" and accordingly, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kallakurichi Sub Division has filed a status report. He was also present at the time of hearing. The relevant portions in the status report are extracted hereunder:

9. It is submitted that in compliance with the order passed by this Hon'ble High Court, the Superintendent of Police, Kallakurichi District vide proceedings in C.No. D5/11754/2023 dated 22.09.2023, nominated me as Investigation Officer of this case in Kallakurichi Police Station Cr.No.385/2023, U/s.294(b), 341 IPC r/w Sec. 3 of TN PPDL Act.

10. It is submitted that I took up the case for further investigation on 23.09.2023 and re-examined the following witnesses and recorded their statements.

(i) Tr.Elumalai-De-facto Complainant (ii) Tr.Murugan - Bus Conductor (iii) Tr.Mansoor - Auto Driver, Eye witness (iv) Tr.Venkatesan - Passenger, Eye witness (v) Tr.Arun-Passenger, Eye witness (vi) Tr.Mani @ Dravida Mani - Eye witness (vii) Tr Marudhamuthu - Auto Driver. Eye witness (vii) Tr Syed Mohammed- Auto Driver, Eye witness (ix) Tr Jackriya - Eye witness (x) Tr.Somu-other witness (xi) Tr.Ilayaraja - other witness

11. It is submitted that I have to examine some more witnesses viz.. De-facto complainant, family members of the petitioner and have to compare the CCTV footages, which was collected from the complainant and Petitioner herein. And to examine the said Murugesan/proposed accused as alleged by the petitioner herein and Expert opinion to be obtained from Forensic Science Laboratory.

12. It is submitted that on receipt of the Expert Opinion from Forensic Science Laboratory and after completion of Examination of witnesses, Final report will be filed before the Jurisdictional Magistrate in accordance with law.

2.In view of the above, some more time has to be given to the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kallakurichi Sub Division, to get the expert opinion and for the completion of the investigation. Hence, post this case under the same caption on 20.11.2023.
