Mr.S.Diwakar, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice for the respondent. Heard both. By consent, the writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.
2. The petitioner seeks a direction to the respondent to dispose of the appeal petition dated 20.10.2015, which has been filed against the order passed by the Revenue Divisional Officer, Chidambaram dated 12.10.2015, imposing a penalty of Rs.5,000/- on the petitioner for illegally mining and transporting sand.
3. The petitioner appears to have sent the appeal petition by registered post on 24.11.2015 and it is within the period of limitation prescribed under the Tamil Nadu Minor Mineral Concession Rules.

4. In view of the above, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's appeal petition dated 20.10.2015 on merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The petitioner is directed to send a copy of the appeal petition to the respondent along with a copy of this order.
