O R D E R

This petition has been filed to direct the second respondent to grant permission and police protection to the petitioner for conducting cultural programme (Adal Padal) at Salem District, Attur Taluk, 4th Ward, Ammampalayam Village, Kelaku Theru Arulmegu Sri Muthumariamman Kovil Thiruvizha, on 07.06.2018,by acting on his representation dated 29.05.2018.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, appearing for the respondents.

3. The grievance of the petitioner is that despite his representation dated 29.05.2018, respondent police have not granted any permission to conduct the cultural programme.

4. I am of the view that this Court cannot give a direction to the police as prayed for by the petitioner. It is for the jurisdictional police and officers to assess the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

situation and grant permission, taking into consideration the law and order problem that may arise due to the conduct of so called cultural programme. Hence, instead of directing the second respondent to grant permission, this Court directs the second respondent to pass orders on the representation dated 29.05.2018, given by the petitioner, on merits and in accordance with law.

With the above direction, the Criminal Original Petition is closed.
