O R D E R

This petition has been filedto direct the respondent authority to give police protection and permission to conduct cultural programme (Adal Padal) in the event of Yerthangal Arulmigu Sree Gengaiamman Temple Festival at Kudiyatham Taluk, Vellore District on 09.06.2018 between 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. by considering the petitioner's representation dated 19.05.2018.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, appearing for the respondents.

3. The grievance of the petitioner is that despite his representation dated 19.05.2018, respondent police have not granted any permission to conduct the cultural programme.

4. I am of the view that this Court cannot give a direction to the police as prayed for by the petitioner. It is for the jurisdictional police and officers to assess the situation and https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

grant permission, taking into consideration the law and order problem that may arise due to the conduct of so called cultural programme. Hence, instead of directing the respondent to grant permission, this Court directs the respondent to pass orders on the representation dated 19.05.2018, given by the petitioner, on merits and in accordance with law.

5. With the above direction, the Criminal Original Petition is closed.
