O R D E R

This petition has been filed to direct the respondent to give police protection and permission to conduct cultural programme (Adalum Padalum) at Arulmigu Mariamman Temple Festival, No.373 A, Thazhampoo Vattam, Balappalnatham, Vaniyambadi Taluk, Poongulam, Vellore District 635 710 on 01.06.2018 by considering the petitioner's representation dated 25.05.2018.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, appearing for the respondents.

3. The grievance of the petitioner is that despite his representation dated 25.05.2018, respondent police have not granted any permission to conduct the cultural programme. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

4. I am of the view that this Court cannot give a direction to the police as prayed for by the petitioner. It is for the jurisdictional police and officers to assess the situation and grant permission, taking into consideration the law and order problem that may arise due to the conduct of so called cultural programme. Hence, instead of directing the respondent to grant permission, this Court directs the respondent to pass orders on the representation dated 25.05.2018, given by the petitioner, on merits and in accordance with law.

5. With the above direction, the Criminal Original Petition is closed.
