O R D E R

This petition has been filed to direct the respondent to grant permission and Police protection to the petitioner for conducting the cultural programme (Adal Padal) at Karai Village Arulmgu Sri Maha Mari Amman Kovil Thiruvizha at Karai Village & Post, Alathur Taluk, Perambalur District on 01.06.2018, by acting on his representation dated 28.05.2018.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, appearing for the respondent.

3. The grievance of the petitioner is that despite his representation dated 28.05.2018, respondent police have not granted any permission to conduct the cultural programme.

4. I am of the view that this Court cannot give a direction to the police as prayed for by the petitioner. It is for the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

jurisdictional police and officers to assess the situation and grant permission, taking into consideration the law and order problem that may arise due to the conduct of so called cultural programme. Hence, instead of directing the respondent to grant permission, this Court directs the respondent to pass orders within two weeks on the representation dated 28.05.2018, given by the petitioner, on merits and in accordance with law.

5. With the above direction, the Criminal Original Petition is closed.
