.. Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to consider the petitioner representation dated 30.03.2023 to take action against construction of small bridges and to remove the

encroachment made on the Manjal Kollai Thotti Water canal at Thirunallar, Karaikal.

ORDER

(Order of the court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) We have heard Mr.J.Rajmohan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.S.Raveekumar, learned Government Pleader (Puducherry) for the respondents.

2. The grievance of the petitioner is that small bridges have been constructed by private persons thereby encroaching upon Manjal Kollai Thotti Water Canal at Thirunallar, Karaikal.

3. Learned Government Pleader (Puducherry), on instructions, submits that the representation of the petitioner would be decided on its own merits.

4. In light of that, the representation of the petitioner dated 30.03.2023 shall be decided by the respondents on its own merits and in accordance with law, preferably within a period of nine months.

5. With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.
