..Respondents Prayer: This writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the second respondent herein to consider and pass orders on the representations of the petitioner dated 28.02.2026 to regularize the services of the petitioner as Drivers with effect from 13.12.1995 as per the Resolution No.2984/95 dated 13.12.1995 of the Greater Chennai Corporation, and the ratification order issued in G.O.Ms.No.67 Municipal Administration and Water Supplies (Ma.Na.3) Department dated 24.04.1998 and in the light of the judgment in

W.P.No.6227/2022 and 25450/2021 dated 19.03.2025 together with all consequential service and monetary benefits, within a time frame as deem fit and proper by this Court.

ORDER

The writ petition has been filed to direct the second respondent herein to consider and pass orders on the representations of the petitioner dated 28.02.2026 to regularize the services of the petitioner as Drivers with effect from 13.12.1995 as per the Resolution No.2984/95 dated 13.12.1995 of the Greater Chennai Corporation, and the ratification order issued in G.O.Ms.No.67 Municipal Administration and Water Supplies (Ma.Na.3) Department dated 24.04.1998 and in the light of the judgment in W.P.No.6227/2022 and 25450/2021 dated 19.03.2025 together with all consequential service and monetary benefits, within a time frame as deem fit and proper by this Court.

2. The petitioner was originally appointed as Driver through the District Employment Exchange in the year 1993. Whileso, on 13.12.1995, the first respondent had passed a resolution No.2984 sanctioning additional posts of

Drivers and decided to regularize the services of the drivers who have been appointed in the permanent vacancies. The Government had accepted the said resolution and passed G.O.Ms.No.67, Municipal Administration and Water Supplies (Ma.Na.3) Department, dated 24.04.1998 ratifying the order of the first respondent. In accordance with the orders of the first respondent, the third respondent, vide his order dated 29.05.1998 had regularized the services of the petitioner with effect from 29.05.1998. Thereafter, the petitioner has been continuously working under the administrative control of the respondents without any break and retired from service on attaining superannuation on 30.04.2019. In order to regularize his services, the petitioner has made made several representations and the last of which is on 28.02.2026, for which there is no response till date. Therefore, the petitioner is before this Court.

3. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record.

4. Considering the relief now sought for by the learned counsel for the petitioner, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the second respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 28.02.2026,

on merits and in accordance with law and to pass appropriate orders, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs. 22.06.2026 Index: Yes/No rap
