Mr.K.Sathish Government Advocate Order This writ petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the 2nd respondent herein to consider and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law on the petitioner's representation dated 29.10.2025 based on the enquiry report submitted by the Principal Secretary to Government Revenue Administration Department in his proceedings in letter No.Va.Ni.3(3) -16607/2009 dated 22.06.2012 regarding alteration of his date of birth from 09.06.1967 to 29.06.1968 within a time frame.
2. The petitioner would submit that he had joined the Government service as Junior B.T. Assistant on 01.07.2004 and was brought under regular time scale with effect from 01.06.2006. He was subsequently absorbed as Deputy Inspector of School Education on 27.09.2019. According to the petitioner, though his actual date of birth is 29.06.1968 as evidenced by the birth
certificate, the same was wrongly entered as 09.06.1967 in the school and service records. Pursuant to her representation dated 13.12.2006, an enquiry was conducted by the Revenue Divisional Officer, Ariyalur and a report was submitted to the Government. Based on the enquiry report, the Principal Secretary to Government, by order dated 22.06.2012, accepted the claim and directed the first respondent to effect correction of the date of birth after obtaining concurrence from the TNPSC. The petitioner would state that despite several subsequent communications and representations, including the representation dated 29.10.2025, no orders have been passed. Hence, the petitioner is before this Court.
3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate appearing for respondents.
4. Considering the limited scope of the prayer sought in this writ petition, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, this Court directs the 2nd respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 29.10.2025 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
