Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to continue to present the Award every year on the occasion of the birthday of the Kalaignar M.Karunanidhi i.e. on 3rd June for the best contribution to classical Tamil studies by a researchers or a research institution in the following areas leading to the creation of new knowledge in Ancient Tamil Culture and Civilization and gaining International recognition: 1)Archeology, 2)Epigraphy, 3)Numismatics, 4)Ancient Grammar and linguistic study, 5)Literary criticism, 6)Creative writing, 7)

ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) The petitioner seeks a direction to a government-controlled centre to present awards on the occasion of the birth anniversary of a former Chief Minister of this State.
2. These are matters with which Courts should not be vexed. It is an entirely political decision and the petition, indeed, has been filed on political considerations at a time close to the elections. Whether or not a particular award has been continued and whether or not such award should be reinstated are matters for the private consideration of the authority even if such authority is controlled by the Government and appropriate representations may be made to such body without seeking any imprimatur of the Court in such regard.
W.P.No.18870 of 2020 is dismissed. There will be no order as to costs.
