ORDER

The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 20.04.2026 for the alleged offences under Sections 296 (b), 351 (3), 109 and 103 of BNS and read with Section 4 of TNPHW Act, in Crime No.209 of 2026 on the file of the respondent police, seeks bail. 2.The case of the prosecution is that in furtherance of a matrimonial dispute, the petitioner attacked his father-in-law and mother-in-law with a knife, causing injuries to his father-in-law to which he later succumbed. Hence, the case.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is innocent and has been in custody since 20.04.2026. He further submitted that he is ready to abide by any stringent condition that may be imposed by this Court and ready to co-operate for investigation. Hence, he prays to grant bail to the petitioner.

4.The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondent police submitted that, due to matrimonial dispute, the petitioner attacked his parents-in-law with a knife. The father-in-law was subsequently admitted to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Fortunately, the petitioner's wife narrowly escaped. Hence, the learned Government Advocate opposed the grant of bail to the petitioner.

5.Considering the totality of the circumstances, the seriousness of the allegations against the petitioner and the pendency of the investigation, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. Consequently, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed.
