Prayer:- Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to select and appoint the petitioner for the post of Village Administrative Officer, Group IV service. For Petitioner : Mr.K.Balu For Respondents : Mr.M.Devendran

The petitioner has sought for a direction to the respondents to select and appoint her for the post of Village Administrative Officer, Group IV services.

According to the petitioner, she had appeared in the written examination held on 30.09.2012, for the recruitment for the post of Village Administrative Officer in Group IV services, for the year 2012-13. When the results were published on 13.11.2012, the petitioner's registration number 27803192 was viewed in the list of the selected candidates in the web-site of the respondents. The print out of the selected candidates list showing the petitioner's registration number, is produced before this Court by the petitioner.

The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner's registration number has been removed from the list of the selected candidates published in the web-sites on an after thought. Hence the petitioner seeks for a direction stating that she is entitled for the appointment on the ground that she has passed since the original selected list shows her registration number.

On instructions from the respondents, Mr.M.Devendran, learned counsel appearing for the respondents, produced all the original records pertaining to the selection process. On perusal of the original records, it is found that the list of selected candidates as published in the web-sites does not contain the petitioner's registration number.

Further more the learned standing counsel had also produced the details regarding the cut-off marks for various communities, in which the Most Backward Class (Women) category, carries the cut of marks as 225, whereas the petitioner has secured procured only 169.5, which is well below the cut of marks. When the original selected list, produced before this Court, does not contain the registration number of the petitioner. Hence, I do not find any reason to grant the relief sought for by the petitioner in the present writ petition.

6. Accordingly, the writ petition is dismissed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is also closed.
