maintained in the Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank Ltd, Kangeyam Branch (3rd Respondent) via Transaction ID No.230611566 and Transaction ID 230634993 on 03.08.2023 and on 04.08.2023 during the failed/unsuccessful transactions, by considering petitioner's representation dated 04.04.2024 and as expeditiously as possible.

O R D E R

Ms.M.Sneha, learned counsel accepts notice for R1 and R2 and is armed with instructions to enable a final disposal of this Writ Petition, even at the stage of admission. In light of the peculiar nature of this matter, no notice is thought necessary to R3.

The prayer is for a mandamus directing R1 and R2, being the Director of Medical Education and Research, Selection Committee and the Additional Director of Medical Education/Secretary , Selection Committee to refund a sum of Rs.2,63,000/-, erroneously debited from the bank account of the petitioner's wife bearing No.407100050300112 maintained in the Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank Ltd, Kangeyam Branch/R3 vide Transaction ID No.230611566 and Transaction ID 230634993 on 03.08.2023 and on 04.08.2023.

3. According to the petitioner, there had been four failed/unsuccessful transactions for participation in the NEET counselling. Though the transactions Pg.No.2/4

were categorised as failed transactions, debits had, in fact, taken place in two out of the four transactions leading to a total debit of a sum of Rs.4,24,500/-.

4. The facts are not in dispute. Both learned counsel would accede to the position that two transactions of Rs.30,000/- and Rs.1,31,500/- have been reimbursed/re-credited on 03.08.2023 and what remains is the re-credit of a sum of Rs.2,63,000/-, for which purpose, Ms.Sneha seeks ten weeks time.

5. Learned counsel for the petitioner objects to the time sought for and the Court agrees with the objection put forth.

6. In light of the above, mandamus as sought for is issued directing R1 and R2 to re-credit/reimburse the said amount within a period of four (4) weeks from today, failing which the amount will attract interest.

7. With this, and as the object of the Writ Petition stands achieved, the same is closed. No costs.
