The instant writ petition has been filed with a prayer for issuing a Mandamus, to direct the respondent herein to settle a sum of Rs.3,78,085/- to the petitioner herein towards 6% for the belated settlement of retirement benefits, by considering the representations of the petitioner dated 06.07.2023, 17.05.2024 and 02.06.2025.

The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner was appointed in the respondent Transport Corporation on 17.03.1990 and after completion of unblemished service, the petitioner had retired from service on 30.11.2020 as Assistant Engineer on attaining the age of superannuation. However, the terminal benefits have been settled during December 2022 and no interest has been paid for the delayed period. In view of the same, the petitioner submitted representations dated 06.07.2023, 17.05.2024 and 02.06.2025 to the respondent to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the same was not considered, the present Writ Petition has been filed. 2/5
3. The learned Standing Counsel for the respondent would fairly admits that in view of the similar orders passed by this Court in W.P.Nos. 40031, 33742 and 35806 of 2024, they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount.
4. Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondent to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of terminal benefits, from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits of the petitioner along with eligible and admissible amount, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 3/5
6. In the result, this Writ Petition is disposed of with the above observations. No costs.
