O R D E R

The petitioner had sought for permission to hold a public meeting viz. Gandhiyar Padukolai Kandana Naal on 30.01.2016, at Velandipalayam Maruthakkonar Street, under the 2nd respondent jurisdiction, which was rejected by the order dated 16.01.2016. Seeking the quash the said order of rejection, the present writ petition has been filed by the petitioner before this Court.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

3. When the matter is taken up for hearing, learned Additional Government Pleader produced the instructions from the Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City, which states that for the reasons stated therein, permission could not be https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

granted at Velandipalayam Maruthakkonar Street, however, it could be granted at V.K.K. Menon Road, Near Jaya Bakery.

4. Considering the above facts and the letter of the Commissioner of Police, expressing serious concern about the place proposed by the petitioner, this Court is inclined to direct the respondent No. 1 to give permission to the petitioner to conduct public meeting at V.K.K. Menon Road, Near Jaya Bakery, on 30.01.2016, subject to other conditions that can be imposed so as to ensure law and order.

5. With the above direction, the present writ petition is disposed of. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. No costs.
