ORDER

[Order of the Court was made by M.M.SUNDRESH, J.] Seeking a direction to the respondent to produce the detenue the petitioner's daughter namely Narmadha aged about 18 years before this Court and set her at liberty, the present Habeas Corpus Petition has been filed by the father of the detenue.

2. The detenue is present. Pursuant to the earlier order passed by this Court, status report has been filed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Egmore Range, Chennai. We have also perused the same.

3. The statement made by the detenue before us indicates a serious offence allegedly committed by the accused person by name Rajesh Prithivi. The status report also would indicate that the accused person is having prior cases and he is involved in https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

various other offences. His targets are particularly young girls. The statement also reveals that he is in the habit of selling the eggs of the unmarried girls. Therefore, considering the seriousness of the issues involved, we direct the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Egmore Range, Chennai to monitor and supervise the investigation. The Assistant Commissioner of Police who filed the status report shall proceed with the investigation. We also record the fact that the accused has already been arrested and at present, he is under judicial custody. The detenue also expressed her willingness to rejoin with the petitioner.

4. In view of the above, the Habeas Corpus Petition stands disposed of.
