Mr.V.Balamurugan For Respondent(s):

Mr.A.R.Balaji Government Advocate-R1 Mr.K.Purushothaman Standing Counsel - R2 to R4 Order This writ petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the 2nd respondent to consider and dispose of his representation dated 16.02.2026 with regard to his application submitted in the year 2015 for appointment on compassionate grounds.

2. The petitioner would submit that he has been working as a Contract Labourer under TANGEDCO since 2002. His father, who was employed as Foreman Grade-I under TANGEDCO, went missing in January 2007. An FIR was registered and, despite investigation, he could not be traced. Subsequently, in O.S.No.53 of 2017, the learned District Munsif, Tambaram, by judgment dated 23.12.2022, declared the petitioner's father as "Civil dead". According to the petitioner, he applied

for appointment on compassionate grounds in the year 2015. His educational certificates and other relevant records were verified by the authorities, and the necessary certificates were also obtained from the Revenue Authorities. Even though the authorities called for and processed the relevant records, no orders have been passed till date. In the above circumstances, the petitioner has submitted a representation dated 16.02.2026 to the respondents requesting them to consider his claim for compassionate appointment. Since the said representation has been kept pending without any progress, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. Heard the learned counsels on both sides and perused the materials available on record.

4. Considering the limited scope of the prayer sought in this writ petition, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, this Court directs the 2nd respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 16.02.2026 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
