This Court, by an order dated 30.11.2022 directed the Special Judge, I Addl. Special Court under NDPS Act, Chennai to complete the trial in C.C.No.81 of 2022 within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of that order. Since the said case could not be disposed of within the time stipulated by this court, the court below by letter dated 09.02.2024 sought for extension of time. Hence, the matter is listed before this court today.

2. The Special Judge, I Addl. Special Court under NDPS Act, Chennai submitted a letter dated 09.02.2024 that as the court below was directed to dispose around 28 cases by the Apex Court as well as this Court within a time frame, the same are pending. Furthermore, she has taken over FAC of II Addl. Special Court under NDPS Act on 26.05.2023 itself and in the said court, 15 cases are directed to be disposed of by this court, which 1/3

are pending on the file of II Addl. Special Court under NDPS Act. So, these are the reasons for delay in not disposing of the said case within the stipulated time granted by this court and also there is an administrative delay. Hence, she prayed to grant further time to dispose of the case.

3. Considering the request of the Special Judge, I Addl. Special Court under NDPS Act, Chennai, this court is inclined to extend the time for the period of three months from the date of receipt of copy of this order to comply with the order of this court. However, time granted by this Court will not be extended after three months.
