Respondents Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 of Cr.P.C., praying to direct the respondents to grant police protection for the petitioner at his own cost as per the petition sent to the Police Commissioner in RPAD No.RT163206216IN dated 22.5.208 and as per the police protection providing for me the order issued by the Hon'ble High Court of Madras in Crl.O.P.No.29610/2013 dated 7.2.2014. O R D E R

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the respondents to grant police protection to the petitioner. 2.Heard the party in person appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents. 3.The petitioner is an accused in eight cases and it is his apprehension that he is being constantly threatened by various unknown persons and therefore, he has given a representation to the authorities and thereafter, filed the present application for police protection by arraying eight respondents. 4.Heard Mr.I.P.Yesudoss, Party-in-person, who submitted that in the year 2013, there was a threat to his life and at the time, he had approached this Court in Crl.O.P.No.29610 of 2013 and this Court, by order dated 07.02.2014 had granted police protection to the petitioner.

5.On a perusal of the order dated 07.02.2014, a formatted order has been passed by this Court for in eighteen cases relating to various petitioners. Now, we are in the year 2018 and much water has flown under the bridge. This State cannot provide individual police protection to every citizen in this country. If there is any specific attack on the petitioner, liberty is given to him to approach the local police and on such complaint, the same shall be enquired into and action be taken against the offender.

6.With above direction, this Criminal Original Petition is ordered accordingly.
