ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the 1st to 3rd respondents herein to consider the petitioner's representation dated 11.03.2025 and take action to prevent any cremation or burial at Survey No.121 in Mangalam Village, Madurantakam Taluk, Chengalpattu District.

2. It is stated that the petitioner claims to be in occupation of the property situated in Survey No.126, Mangalam Village, Madurantakam Taluk, Chengalpattu District. According to the petitioner, certain persons, who are involved in civil disputes with the petitioner's wife in respect of another property, cremated a human corpse in the adjacent land comprised in Survey No.121, which is classified as Tharisu Poromboke land. It is further stated that the said act was intended to harass the petitioner and his family. It is the grievance of the petitioner that despite complaints being made to the local authorities, no action has been taken. In such circumstances, a representation dated 11.03.2025 seeking appropriate action to prevent such occurrences in future. Hence this writ petition.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner's representation dated 11.03.2025 is still pending consideration and a direction may be issued to the respondents to consider the same within a time frame. 2/4

4. Learned Government Counsel appearing for the respondents submitted that the aforesaid representation of the petitioner would be considered and appropriate orders would be passed by the 1st respondent in accordance with law.

5. Considering the limited prayer sought for in the writ petition and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's claim, this Court directs the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 11.03.2025, after affording an opportunity of hearing to all necessary and interested parties, and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
