ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by J.NISHA BANU, J.) The present Writ Petition is filed for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1 st to 3 rd respondents to give permission to conduct Jallikattu on any day as fixed by District Administration in Ulipuram Thozhuvam at Ulipuram Village, Gangavalli taluk, Salem District, based on the petitioner's representation dated 02.06.2025.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is the President of Jallikattu Committee of Ulipuram Village and there are about 500 families in the said Village and they are conducting Jallikattu in their Village every year.

The learned counsel for the petitioner further submits that Ulipuram Village is mentioned in G.O.(D) No.151, Animal Husbandry Dairying, Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare (AH3-2), dated 21.02.2024, No.II(2)/AHDFFW/ 384/2024, wherein it is notified that Jallikattu may be conducted in the places specified therein subject to the adherence of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and norms specified in the Government Letter No.5516/AH3-2/2023, dated 22.12.2023 and by following the restrictions announced by the State / District Disaster Management Authorities.

The learned counsel for the petitioner further submits that the petitioner made a representation on 02.06.2025 before the first respondent to conduct Jallikattu, on any day, as fixed by the District Administration, but, the same has not been considered by the first respondent. Hence, the present Writ Petition is filed.

5. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.M.Venkateswaran, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

6. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, the first respondent/District Collector, Salem District, is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 02.06.2025 and pass orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

7. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
