Respondents Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issue of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 6.7.2018 and 10.7.2018 in accordance with law and directing the respondents to grant police protection and permission to conduct the Sri Puttu Amman Temple Adi festival by the petitioner Sangam on 23.7.2018 and 24.7.2018 at Thiagi Viswanatha Doss Nagar Kudiyiruppu, Kosapur, Chennai 600 060. ORDER
The present writ petition has been filed seeking a mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the representations dated 6.7.2018 and 10.7.2018, wherein the petitioner sought for permission to hold the festival at Sri Puttu Amman Temple on 23.7.2018 and 24.7.2018 at Thiagi Viswanatha Doss Nagar Kudiyiruppu, Kosapur, Chennai.

Pleader for the respondents, on instructions, submitted that since there are two associations, one in the name of the petitioner, namely, Thiyagi Viswanatha Doss Nagar Kudiyiruppu Nala Sangam and the second one in the name of Thiyagi Viswanatha Doss Nagar Selvavinayagar, Puttu Amman Aalaya Thirupani Kuzhu seeking permission to conduct the festival, the respondents are finding it difficult to give permission in favour of one group. The learned Special Government Pleader also placed on record a letter given by Mr.P.Alagiri, President of Thiyagi Viswanatha Doss Nagar Kudiyiruppu Nala Sangam on 13.7.2018 stating that he is prepared to cooperate with the other people to conduct the temple festival.

In view of the letter given by the President of the petitioner Sangam, this Court hereby directs the Tahsildar, Madhavaram Taluk to conduct a peace committee meeting inviting the other group and then take a decision, within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Both the groups are directed to cooperate with the Tahsildar for holding the peace committee meeting with regard to the conduct of the temple festival. With this direction, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
