This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to deal with the representation made by the petitioner on 12.05.2025 wherein the petitioner is seeking for repayment of the balance amount along with interest and cost to the petitioner.

2. Heard Mr.D.Senthil Kumar, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.E.Veda Bagath Singh, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for respondents.

3. The case of the petitioner is that they are Class-I contractor registered with the Highways Department of Tamil Nadu. They were engaged by the Public Works Department in a road contract work. The petitioner carried out the works and completed the same. The grievance of the petitioner is that the respondent has disbursed only a sum of Rs.60,00,000/- and the balance amount of Rs.34,74,938.34 was not paid to the petitioner. An assurance was given to the petitioner that it will be disbursed shortly. However, the same was not disbursed and hence, the petitioner submitted a representation in this regard. The same was not 2/4

acted upon and nearly 29 months lapsed without the balance amount being disbursed to the petitioner. It is under these circumstances, the petitioner has approached this Court seeking for disbursement of the balance amount along with interest and cost.

Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and the materials placed before this Court, there shall be a direction to the respondents to act upon the representation made by the petitioner on 12.05.2025 and take a decision and convey the same to the petitioner within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

This writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
