O R D E R

The petitioner is a resident of Vadamambakkam Village, Ulundurpet Taluk and is a staunch devotee and worshiper of Goddess Sri Aaliamman, Lord Ayyanar and Goddess Muthu Mariamman situated in his village.

2.The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that for several years during the Tamil Month of Aadi "rhif Cw;Wjy; " and "TH; Cw;Wjy; " functions will be conducted by the village people and this year, the function has been fixed on 23.07.2018. Invitations have also been circulated to all the villagers. But some individuals, with the intention to destroy the peace, are trying to stop the temple function. On coming to know of the same, on 09.07.2018, the petitioner along with the other village

people have given a representation to the official respondents seeking police protection during the temple festival. But till date, no response is forthcoming and hence, the petitioner has come before this Court by filing this Writ Petition seeking a direction to the respondents to give police protection to conduct the village temple festival on 23.07.2018. 3.The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents, on instructions, submitted that the 1st respondent, viz., the Tahsildar, Ulundurpet, after taking into account the situation, proceeded to hold a Peace Committee meeting at 04.00 p.m. today (20.07.2018) at his Office. Therefore, the petitioner can also take part in the Peace Committee meeting and make a request for providing police protection to all the villagers during the village temple festival.

4.The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that since the 1st respondent is about to hold a Peace Committee meeting and subsequently, hold the village temple festival on 23.07.2018, a direction be issued to the police authorities to give sufficient police protection and the said request cannot be objected by the respondent.

5.Since the 1st respondent, the Tahsildar, Ulundurpet has issued notice on 13.07.2018 inviting the villagers to attend the Peace Committee meeting on 20.07.2018 at 04.00 p.m., the petitioner is also given liberty to take part in the Peace Committee meeting and give a written request to the Tahsildar, Ulundurpet for police protection, who will also consider the same, if need be.

6.In view of the above facts, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
