This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to act upon the representation made by the petitioner on 19.04.2025 wherein the petitioner is seeking for correcting her name in the birth certificate issued to her son by mentioning the name as K.Radhika instead of K.Yamini

2. Heard Mr.R.Amardeep, learned counsel for petitioner, Mr.E.Sundaram, learned Government Advocate appearing for first respondent and Mr.D.B.R.Prabhu, learned Standing Counsel appearing for respondents 2 and 3.

3. The petitioner was married to one Kumar and through his wedlock one Durkesh was born. While issuing the birth certificate for 2/4

Durkesh, the name of the petitioner was mentioned as K.Yamini instead of K.Radhika, which is her original name. Hence, a representation was made in this regard seeking for correction of the name and for issuance of a fresh birth certificate. Since the same was not considered, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court.

On carefully going through the materials before this Court, it is seen that the correct name of the petitioner is K.Radhika, however, by mistake, the name with which she is called by her near and dear has been incorporated in the birth certificate also and as a result, the name of the petitioner was mentioned as K.Yamini M/o.K.Durkesh and correction must be made in the birth certificate issued to her son. Hence, there shall be a direction to the respondents 2 and 3 to act upon the representation made by the petitioner on 19.04.2025 and incorporate the name of the petitioner K.Radhika in the birth certificate of K.Durkesh and issue fresh birth certificate within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
