The Writ Petition has been filed for directing the respondents the effect electricity service connection for Survey No.151/1, Thiruvennainallur, Villupuram District based on the application submitted on 25.08.1988 by petitioner's
grandfather.
2. The petitioner states that the subject land originally belonged to his grandfather and the family of the petitioner is cultivating the said land. An application was submitted seeking free electricity service connection for agricultural purposes on 25.08.1988. However, the said application was not considered and therefore, the present Writ Petition is filed.
3. The learned Standing Counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents Board would oppose the said contention by stating that the application submitted by the petitioner in the year 1988 was cancelled in the year 2015, since the petitioner had not informed about their readiness to provide free electricity service connection for agriculture services. It is further contended that there is no well available in the subject land and therefore, the Writ Petition is to be rejected.
4. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is an illiterate person and further, the rejection order had not been communicated to the petitioner. Thus, the case of the petitioner is to be considered. Since the application of the year 1988 was considered by the respondents and the authorities
found that there was no well and the petitioner has not informed about their readiness, now the said application cannot be restored after a lapse of many years. However, the petitioner is at liberty to submit a fresh application in compliance with the terms and conditions for providing free electricity service connection for agricultural purposes and in the event of submitting any such application, the same is to be considered on merits and in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible.
