Prayer: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st respondent to give permission to the petitioner's son Master.K.Mohammed Aathil to pursue admission with the 3rd respondent Polytechnic College under lateral entry admission in Diploma in Electricial and Electronics Engineering 3rd Semester.

ORDER

The petitioner seeks a lateral entry in admission to a Polytechnic course with the third respondent. He has completed 10th standard and is doing a two year ITI program and he is yet to take his final semester examination.

2.Mr.S.J.Mohamed Sathik, learned Government Advocate appeared on behalf of respondents 1 and 2 and made a statement that the admission process for the current Academic Year ie., 2023-2024 is over and final semester examination for ITI is now under way and submitted that the petitioner is not eligible for being considered for admission through lateral entry into the Polytechnic course in the current Academic Year. 3.The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is now taking his final semester examinations and that his case may be considered.

4.This Court considers that the petitioner has rushed to the Court one stage too early. In terms of the norms, he should have completed the two year ITI program and since the final semester examination is not yet over, he will be eligible to participate only after obtaining the prescribed eligibility criterion.
