The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 27.07.2022 for the offences punishable under Sections 6(4) of TNSC (RDCS) Order 1982 r/w 7(i) a (ii) of E.C.Act 1955 in Crime No.120 of 2022 on the file of the respondent police, seeks bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that on 27.07.2022 at about 8.00 a.m., when the respondent police were on their regular patrol, at that time they intercepted a lorry bearing registration No. KA-01-C0227 and found that the accused persons had illegally transported 22,000 Kgs of PDS Rice without obtaining any permission or license from the State Government. Hence, the complaint.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent submitted that the petitioner was found in possession of 22,000 Kgs of PDS rice. Hence, he vehemently opposed to grant bail to the petitioner.

4. The petitioner was arrested only on 27.07.2022. Considering the above facts and circumstances, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. Hence, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. 12.08.2022 mpl https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis
