ORDER
By consent of learned counsel on both sides, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
2. The present writ petition has been filed praying for a writ of Mandamus to direct the 3rd respondent to renew the petitioner's passport No. K2225796 and issue the Passport based on his Application File No. MA8075221274525.
3. At the outset, learned counsel appearing for respondents 2 and 3 would submit that petitioner was earlier involved in a criminal case and a petition for quashment of the criminal proceedings was filed by petitioner before the Madurai Bench of this Court and that a Special Leave Petition arising therefrom is stated to be pending.
4. Learned Central Government Standing Counsel appearing for first respondent would submit that a report from the second respondent may be required for considering petitioner's request. He would submit that upon receipt of such report, petitioner's representation dated 18.11.2025 would be considered and appropriate orders would be passed after issuing notice to petitioner and any other interested parties, within a time period to be stipulated by this Court. Agreed to by the learned counsel for petitioner.

In view of the above, if any request is made for submission of any report by the first respondent, the second respondent shall furnish the same within a period of two (2) weeks from the date of such request. Thereafter, the first respondent shall consider the representation dated 18.11.2025 on its own merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, after issuing notice and after affording reasonable opportunity of hearing to petitioner. The above exercise shall be completed within a period of 4 weeks from the date of uploading of web copy without waiting for the receipt of certified copy of the order. If for any reason, such report is not requested by first respondent, orders shall be passed within a period of 3 weeks from the date of uploading of web copy without waiting for the receipt of certified copy of the order. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any views with regard to the merits of the case and it is open to the concerned respondent to consider the case on its own merits and in accordance with law.
