J U D G M E N T

(Judgment of the Court was delivered by R.SUBRAMANIAN, J.) Challenge is to the order of the learned Single Judge dated 02.07.2024 made in W.P.No.4170 of 2020 directing grant of incentive increment for completion of B.Ed., by a Secondary Grade Teacher.

2. The respondent who was appointed as a Secondary Grade Teacher obtained additional qualifications viz., B.Com., M.Com., and B.Ed., and sought for incentive increment for the additional qualifications obtained 2/6

by him. The said request was rejected by the Government by order dated 31.08.2016 and 22.04.2019 passed by the 2nd and 5th appellants respectively.

Upon challenge, the writ Court concluded that being a Secondary Grade Teacher acquisition of B.Com., and M.Com., qualifications which are not of any use to the students will not entail the respondent to incentive increment. However, incentive increment for acquisition of B.Ed., was directed to be granted. It is this order which was subject matter of challenge in this appeal.

4. In similar circumstances, we had by our order dated 17.02.2025 made in W.A.No.225 of 2025 affirmed the conclusion of the learned Single Judge granting incentive increment for B.Ed., course. The issue is covered by the said judgment.

5. Hence, the Writ Appeal fails and it is accordingly dismissed. It is made clear that since the rejection order is of the year 2016 and 2019, the respondent would be entitled to incentive increment and not a lump sum 3/6

compensation. No costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
