Sathish, Standing Counsel for R2 Order The Writ Petition has been filed seeking to issue a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to pay 10 percent interest towards belated payment of terminal benefit such as Provident Fund, Gratuity , Leave Salary and Commutation of pension amount to the petitioners.

2. The case of the petitioners is that they were appointed in the respondent- Corporation between the period 1983 and 1998 and retired from

service on various dates holding the posts of Loading man, Senior Tradesman, Special Grade Conductors and Special Grade Drivers. The terminal benefits have been settled to the petitioners only on 11.03.2026, 11.03.2026, 02.12.2025, 11.03.2026, 11.03.2026, 19.01.2026, 16.03.2026, 30.05.2023 and 02.12.2025 respectively but no interest has been paid for the delayed period. Therefore, the petitioners had submitted representations to the respondents dated 13.05.2026 and 22.05.2026, requesting them to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the same were not considered, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. The learned Standing Counsel for the respondents would fairly submit that they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount.

4. Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

5. In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of Provident Fund, Gratuity , Leave Salary and Commutation of pension amount from the date of retirement till the

date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits to the petitioners within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
