The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking issuance of Writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent to effect new electricity connection to the residential house of the petitioner at No. 88, 5th Street, Jothiammal Nagar, D.B. Chathiram Chennai - 600 030 within a time frame as may be fixed by this Court. 2.The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner applied for separate electricity service connection to the second floor of the subject property and also paid necessary charges, however, his application was cancelled without assigning any reason and the amount paid by him also was refunded. Hence, this writ petition. 3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted 2/4
that the petitioner applied for electricity service connection to the second floor of the subject property twice and also paid necessary charges, however, the amount paid by him was refunded and electricity service connection was not effected and no reason was given by the electricity board for cancellation of the petitioner's application. Hence, this Court may issue direction to the respondents to effect electricity service connection to the second floor of the subject property within a reasonable time frame. 4.Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the respondents to send communication to the petitioner stating the reason for not effecting electricity service connection, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
